Frequently Asked Questions

A Campaign to raise $4M for our neighbourhood.

What is the purpose of the Hopes and Dreams campaign?

The purpose of the capital campaign is to raise funds for the development and improvement of two facilities operated by NCFC, and to ensure the long term operations and sustainability of NCFC. From these facilities programs and services will be delivered to enhance the quality of life for thousands of children, families and youth in the North Central Neighbourhood and improve their future and wellbeing. $3 million will be used toward the new social housing and community services hub and $1 million toward repurposing the existing Centre into a dedicated Children and Youth Centre.

Why is Hopes and Dreams important?

Hopes and dreams are essential for personal growth, fulfillment, and a meaningful life. It is hard to have hopes and dreams if you have no safe place to live, or are hungry. Lack of everyday needs, negative influences, fear and self-doubt get in the way of having hopes and dreams. This campaign will enable NCFC to address the many obstacles of hopes and dreams for children, youth, seniors and families in the North Central neighborhood. By investing in this campaign, we can help our neighbors create a more equitable, productive and inclusive city.

How will the funds raised be used?

The funds raised through the capital campaign will be used to complete the construction of the social housing complex (30 units and a ground floor community services hub), renovate the existing Centre, finishing, fixturing, equip and furnishing both, and support start-up operational costs.

Who will benefit from the social housing units?

Low-income children, youth, seniors and families who are seeking and in need of support to achieve a desired higher quality of life. Each resident will have different needs for self-fulfillment; this housing will be transitional as residents benefit from the support they need to eventually move into their own self sustainable lives. This model addresses the causes versus the symptoms of poverty; it’s about actionable collaboration, innovation, and finding better ways for how we all can participate in developing a healthier community by “providing a hand up.”

How can I contribute to the capital campaign?

There are several ways to contribute to the Hopes and Dreams Capital Campaign. First, your willingness to understand the people and the needs of North Central families makes us a better community. Then, you can make a difference through a financial donation, in-kind donation, volunteer your time and skills, or participate in fundraising events. More understanding and every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in achieving our goals for a better community.
